Dr. Jo-Anne Ryan

Associate Professor in the School of Business and Economics

I currently have two key projects I am undertaking. The first project examines the assurance and performance management related issues surrounding the insolvency and Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) protection the was undertaken by Laurentian University. I am a co-author, with Dr. Marc Pilon of Laurentian University on two case related papers. We hope that the case studies will provide a rich learning environment for accounting students in the areas of assurance and governance. The second project, funded by Algoma University’s Start-up Research Grant examines the investor relations (IR) website content of more than 500 Canadian Public Companies. With the assistance of upper year Algoma University students, I hope to find out more about what types of voluntary and non-voluntary financial and non-financial information that Canadian companies are posting on their IR website.
